Byron Bay

So, this was my first night in Byron Bay, awesome just awesome!
Arrived at 4 pm, already met two nice travelers in the bus. After checking in the hostel (Arts Factory) I decided to spend Christmas over here. Its pretty much the closest thing to paradise I've ever been. Wide white beaches, blue water, blue sky, great city, hippie style, little shops and pups everywhere, no shoe-box companies, nice and colorful people all around. Already met a guy who got stuck here for 9 months now, he's living on a couch in a tent, where he pretty much put up a whole living room ;) (including a poor copy of the baggersee blaster)
Spent the first evening with some UK guys on the beach, had some beers, pretty nice, just enjoyable.
After that night I had some problems finding my dorm, since I only dropped my backpack there in the afternoon.. Had a good night sleep and even slept-in in the morning so I missed the bus to Nimbin, so what will have a nice day on the beach though...

Goodbye Singapore

Still can't write too much, still suffering from jet-lack and the flu..
At the moment I'm preparing my departure from the most amazing city of Singapore.
Maybe I'll be writing a sum-up of my stay here when I'm aboard the plane to Brisbane in the evening. So long there's at least one picture for you people at home:

Me at Singapore ;-)

The Web 2.0 Identity

Web 2.0 is offering many opportunities which obviously make things easier, faster and more precise. But they also require a lot of supervision in order not to get out of control.

When i spent the evening integrating the Google Map I drew earlier, I started to imagine more and more possibilities that Web 2.0 has to offer.

A little Example:
I got a new cell phone, which has a GPS receiver that can put GeoTags into every Image I record on the integrated camera. Now after I have uploaded the Pictures on a Service like Flickr or Picasa, I will be able to link the Map into that Album and display the Images in my Google Map at the coordinates where they were taken. Addtionally I could keep gps-tracking my movements and Upload those coordinates as well. Now a map is drawn that literally follows my footsteps and even clarifies every now and then by putting up a photo of the szene.

What I can't understand is, who the hell is using all that stuff..? I consider myself kind of a geek, and I have to admit that I sometimes have a hard time to figure out reasonable utilizations for all the applications that are offered.

Alright, I wanted to blog and I will blog! And give myself over to feeling like Jason Bourne (guess what, I will implement the GeoTag-pictures-of-the-route thing soon). So i can be tracked with satellite supported imagery for the duration of my journey. I'll see that as an experiment for a limited period of time.
